Before General Anesthesia

Contact Us!

We encourage you to contact us with any questions or comments you may have. Please call our office or use the quick contact form below.

If you are scheduled for a surgical procedure with either intravenous (I.V.) sedation or general anesthesia, we ask that you follow these instructions:

  • You must have an empty stomach when you arrive. Absolutely nothing to eat or drink for six (6) hours before your appointment.
  • You must have a responsible adult accompany you to your appointment and that person must stay to drive you home. That person will be asked to remain in the office during your procedure and will receive instructions about your post-operative care after surgery in completed. You must be taken home in a car (not a public bus or taxi).
  • Please wear loose clothing with short sleeves and comfortable walking shoes. Contact lenses, dentures, and jewelry that might interfere with treatment should be removed.
  • If you were instructed to take any medications that morning, please do so as we directed.

When you arrive for your appointment we will confirm the above instructions before taking you to our treatment room.
